Set in Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th Century, the spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly (Gordon MacRae), a handsome cowboy, and Laurey (Shirley Jones), a beautiful farm girl.

Laurey is the woman with whom both cowboy Curly and farm hand Jud (Rod Steiger) have fallen in love. When she plays hard-to-get with earnest Curly and instead accepts dangerous Jud’s invitation to the upcoming box social, tensions rise between the men and capture the interest of the whole town.

Based upon the revolutionary Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1943 Broadway musical, considered so for its integration of song and storyline, the 1955 film version of Oklahoma! has remained one of the greats since it burst into theatres, filled with legendary musical numbers that stay with you.

This screening will provide an inclusive experience for people living with dementia, their families and carers. There will be a film activity with Jan Carson before the film, as well as free tea, coffee and biscuits from 10.30am. Please note that everyone is welcome to attend our supported screenings. QFT is committed to the Age-Friendly Belfast Charter.
