Venue Access

QFT is committed to creating an open and accessible environment for everyone. With support from the University of Atypical we've created welcome videos with subtitles, BSL and ISL interpretation further down this page.

QFT is an accessible building adapted to make your visit as easy as possible. Guide dogs are welcome and there are disabled badge holders' parking spaces across the road from QFT in the Queen’s University carpark, available after 4pm every day.

Our Seats

In Screen 1 our seats have solid arm rests. The seats are 48cm wide, 45cm deep. There is 69cm from the back of a chair to the one in front, meaning there is roughly 24cm leg room.
In Screen 2 our seats have free floating arm rests. The seats are 48cm wide, 48cm deep. There is 75cm from the back of a chair to the one in front, meaning there is roughly 27cm leg room.
If you are concerned that you will not be able to sit in these seats, we can place our foyer chairs in the screen. These chairs have no arm rests and are 45cm wide and 45cm deep.

Wheelchair and Mobility aid access

QFT Box Office and café/bar are both located on the ground floor which is accessible via a ramp at 21 University Square (next door to QFT) and an electronically assisted entrance door. On the ground floor there is also access to an adapted toilet.

Information for d/Deaf and hard of hearing Audiences

We have a loop system in both our screens for those with restricted hearing and offer regular captioned screenings. More information on that is available below.

If you have any specific access enquiries or specialist requirements not covered below, please contact the duty manager on 02890 971369 or email us at qftmanager@qub.ac.uk.

We've created a video guide to the venue to show you what it's like.

This video is also available with BSL and ISL Interpretation.

CEA Cards

Our disabled customers are entitled to the concessionary rate for all events and screenings and a companion can come free of charge. You will need to present a CEA card (see here for more details and to apply).

If you are a wheelchair user and the marked wheelchair space has already been booked, please give us a call on 02890971369 as we can create additional wheelchair spaces in Screen 1.

Supported Screenings

QFT offer Audio Description and Descriptive Subtitling on selected films when available. We have a limited number of headsets so please let us know, by emailing qftmanager@qub.ac.uk, if you would like to reserve one for a screening.

Audio Description is available on selected films. We're working on integrating information about this on our website. In the meantime, you can contact us on qftmanager@qub.ac.uk to enquire about the availability of Audio Description for particular films.

Accessible Screenings Newsletter

We're working on improving access at QFT. One of the ways we hope to do this is by creating a dedicated newsletter detailing our upcoming Accessible Screenings, whether that's captioned screenings, relaxed screenings or screenings with Audio Description.

We want to create the newsletter with its recipients in mind. If you're interested in helping us shape this newsletter and/or have thoughts about access at QFT, please complete this form.
