A young couple who collect rare folk ballads discover the dark side of love when they surreptitiously record and translate an ancient, taboo song from the deep, forgotten past in this unsettling Irish folk horror.
Couple Anna (Simone Collins) and Aleks (Charlie Maher) travel around bars, houses and towns in Ireland, looking for old folk songs to sell to collectors. The rarer the better. But when they hear a rumour of a singer and a song long thought lost, handed down from mother to daughter through generations, never written down and never recorded, they encounter a bizarre old woman and her puppeteer son (Olwen Fouéré and Nigel O'Neill) and end up opening a door to a powerful and ancient evil.
Featuring social and political undertones as well as a striking score from Lankum's Ian Lynch, All You Need is Death is a chaotic and original folk horror.
The screening on Sat 18 May will feature a post-screening Q&A with director Paul Duane and actor Nigel O'Neill.
"Completely insane in a good way. It is absolutely nuts and dreadful in as much as it is full of dread – and then some." - Mark Kermode
