Baby Pictures is our monthly morning film slot exclusively for carers with little ones aged twelve months and under. This month's screening moves cleverly between low-key thriller and winsome rom-com.
With a warm, sly script, jazzy original music by Marius de Vries, and charismatic performances from Dustin Hoffman, Leo Woodall and Havana Rose Liu (Bottoms), Tuner is a playful and satisfying watch that takes us into the world of a very specific profession.
Veteran piano tuner Harry Horowitz (Hoffman) is losing his hearing, while his shy apprentice Niki (Woodall) is incredibly sensitive (he has a condition called hyperacusis, which obliges him to wear earplugs at all times). Together, they’re the best tuners in town. But when Niki’s skills are called on in unusual circumstances, he is exposed to a criminal but lucrative potential side trade – shortly before he meets and begins to fall for music composition student Ruthie (Liu).
Baby Pictures is open to carers and little ones of twelve months and under. As everyone in the cinema is a parent or carer, there’s no need to worry if it gets a little noisy. Everyone understands. Customers not accompanying a baby will be turned away. Tickets are £10 and include a hot drink and a delicious pastry. You can let us know if you have any dietary requirements on qftmanager@qub.ac.uk.
The lights are turned up a little bit and the sound is a little softer to create a peaceful environment for you and the baby. It’s just for carers (Mum, Dad, Granny, Granda, whoever it is it looking after the tot) and babies. Up to two adults can come with a baby. Please note: we cannot allow babies over the age of 12 months to come to Baby Pictures.
If you have any questions about Baby Pictures, please get in touch on qftmanager@qub.ac.uk.
