Season Docs Ireland 2025

Belfast Film Festival was commissioned by Belfast 2024 to deliver a community-focused training series in documentary filmmaking.

Experienced directing talents teamed up with local community groups to produce a collection of short documentaries. The themes and stories explored in these films were entirely shaped by the groups themselves and participants were guided through each stage of the filmmaking process, from the first spark of inspiration through to post-production.

Gillian Callan - Seeking Home (14 min)

After setting out to document a day in the life of a homeless refugee family, a film crew discovers just how precarious their life really is.

Alison Millar - Stranded Dreams (9 min)

This film follows The Anaka Collective in Belfast, where young refugees and asylum seekers participate in creative and professional workshops. As part of the 16+ Education Equality Campaign, they navigate the realities of building a future far from home.

Seán Murray - Ardoyne Youth Club (10 min)

This short documentary explores the dedicated work of Ardoyne Youth Club through the eyes of five local youths.
