As part of Docs Ireland and The Nerve Centre's Our Place in Space, award-winning filmmaker Darren Aronofsky will be in conversation at the QFT, discussing what drove him to create One Strange Rock - his ten part documentary series which explores the fragility and wonder of planet Earth - one of the most peculiar, unique places in the universe.

A special, feature length version of One Strange Rock will be screened.

One Strange Rock (available on Disney+) consists of hourlong episodes delve into monumental events such as genesis, cosmic violence, human intelligence and alien life, oxygen, and survival vs. destruction, while host Will Smith guides viewers on an unprecedented exploration, bolstered by an elite group of eight astronauts.

Darren Aronofsky is an American director, producer, and screenwriter. Widely known for his thought provoking and intelligent filmmaking, Aronofsky makes films that are often regarded surrealistic and disturbing. In 1998, Aronofsky made his first feature film, the psychological thriller Pi. He went on to write and direct some of the most controversial films in recent years, including Requiem for a Dream, the Oscar nominated Black Swan and The Wrestler.

Our Place in Space, part of UNBOXED: Creativity, is an epic scale model of the solar system designed by artist and children’s author Oliver Jeffers, incorporating a 10km three-dimensional sculpture trail in Northern Ireland and Cambridge, an interactive AR app, and major learning and events programmes.
