A community is shocked when the bodies of an elderly man and the manager of a home-visit nursing centre are found.
SHIBA Munenori (MATSUYAMA Kenichi), a dedicated caregiver responsible for the elderly man’s care, becomes the prime suspect. Meanwhile, a distressing pattern emerges: over 40 deaths have occurred since he began working at the care centre.
Prosecutor OTOMO Hidemi (NAGASAWA Masami) relentlessly pursues SHIBA. While SHIBA admits to taking the lives of the elderly people, he insists that it was not murder but salvation.
Directed by MAEDA Tetsu (A Banana? At This Time of Night?), this novel adaptation engages with one of Japan’s most troubling issues in its aging society, the breakdown of the care system and the emotions of people involved, presented in the form of a gripping mystery drama.
Director Maeda will be present at this screening to take part in a Q&A following the film.
