The most purely romantic film in the BFF programme, and maybe of the year; this funny, yearning feature stars Jessie Buckley (Men) and Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal) as co-workers resisting their growing, glowing mutual attraction because in the parallel world they inhabit, a couple’s love is a test that they have not passed.

Unbeknownst to her 100%-certified love-compatible boyfriend Ryan (The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White) Anna (Buckley) has taken a job at the Love Institute, which teaches couples how to deepen their bond to better their chances of achieving their coveted, in-love certification. But her eyes cannot help but stray to fellow technician Amir (Ahmed) with whom she shares a rapport and a flickering, electric connection despite, or perhaps because of, his bad jokes and solo dancing.

Shot on warmly textured, autumnal 35mm by master cinematographer Marcell Rév (Euphoria) this is a sci-fi rom-com that doesn’t adhere to any of the regular formulas.
