Suburban dad Craig (Tim Robinson) falls hard for his charismatic new neighbour Austin (Paul Rudd), but Craig’s attempts to make an adult male friend threaten to ruin both of their lives.

Marketing executive Craig lives an unremarkable life: he has a white-collar job, a house, a car, a loyal wife, Tami (Kate Mara) and a reluctant companion in teenage son Steven (Jack Dylan Grazer). But when cool new neighbour Austin moves in - a suave local weatherman who also fronts a band - Craig is immediately enamoured. Intent on winning Austin’s affections, Craig is enthusiastic about the prospect of escaping his comfort zone and securing an emotional bond with a new friend. However, after Craig makes a social faux-pas, Austin suggests he doesn't want another friend and their relationship disastrously unravels.

Perfect for fans of cult comedy star Robinson, Friendship is a hysterical, uniquely unsettling portrait of a bromance going catastrophically awry.

"Ridiculously funny...also deeply poignant, ultimately [DeYoung] has made a movie about male loneliness." - Esther Zuckerman, GQ
