A sly, scabrous satire on the UK film industry, Naqqash Khalid’s pacy, clever debut announces not just his arrival, but also that of his terrific lead, Nabhaan Rizwan.
Aden (Rizwan) is a handsome and dedicated actor hustling for his big break whilst being constantly relegated to bit-parts by an industry that grudgingly makes room for one British Asian star at a time. After he is sent out on a series of nightmarish commercial auditions, with rejection upon rejection, he takes it upon himself to find a new part to play.
Few films have tackled life as a jobbing artist, or the strangeness of UK modernity, with such uncompromising candour and wit.
