Filmed and edited by black filmmakers from South Africa, London and Belfast, It's Too Dark is a short film about an African photographer rediscovering his passion in the darkness. This free screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Bursting with anticipation, Silver, an African photographer, arrives in Cape Town only to be met by a barrage of mishaps at his hotel. His frustration intensifies when a sudden blackout plunges the entire city into darkness. Amidst the chaos, mistaken identities and unexpected encounters throw Silver off his stride and force him to confront the absurdity of cultural differences and miscommunication.
With power restored the following day, Silver embarks on a journey through Cape Town's vibrant tapestry. From the colourful Imizamo Yethu township to the awe-inspiring majesty of Table Mountain, his camera lens becomes a window into the city's soul. Leaving Cape Town with a camera brimming with captured moments, Silver realises that the most profound clicks often arise from the unlikeliest of circumstances, proving that even in the darkest moments, there exists a luminous beauty waiting to be revealed.
