Returning to QFT, a new 4K restoration of Jean-Luc Godard’s (Breathless, Pierrot Le Fou) new-wave masterpiece, Le Mépris, in celebration of its 60th anniversary.

Centred on the growing tensions between a screenwriter (Michel Piccoli) and his wife (Brigette Bardot), as he labours on a film of Homer’s Odyssey directed by Fritz Lang but produced by a crass American (Jack Palance), Godard’s film is both a study or marital breakdown and a critique of contemporary filmmaking practices. Beautifully performed, ravishingly shot by Raoul Coutard and superbly scored by Georges Delerue.
