Chosen for Art of Action by Northern Irish film critic and Empire magazine editor-at-large Helen O’Hara, Mad Max: Fury Road is the rollicking story of one woman’s rebellion against a tyrannical ruler.
The despotic Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) has enslaved apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress known as the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot’s five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armoured truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland.
This screening will be introduced by Helen O'Hara.
Helen O’Hara will be discussing the history and roles of women in the action genre in a fascinating illustrated talk before this screening. Tickets for this talk are sold seperately. If you would like to purchase a ticket for Helen’s talk please click here.
