Returning to Docs Ireland with his feature debut, Belfast director Ross McClean presents Magilligan; an intimate portrait of a man caught between two worlds, with more than just his freedom at stake.
Imprisoned as a teenager for a violent offence, Ryan finds purpose working with sheep on the prison farm. But the order of the inside is a stark contrast to the chaos he finds upon release as his past refuses to go quietly.
Belfast director Ross McClean has won the Docs Ireland Short Film Competition with both Hydebank and No Mean City, amongst many awards internationally. He returns to the festival with his feature debut – after world premiering in competition at Visions du Réel.
The film will be preceded by the Docs Ireland awards presentations. After the film, Ross McClean will be interviewed by filmmaker Myrid Carten.
