Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer thrusts audiences into the pulse-pounding paradox of the enigmatic man who must risk destroying the world in order to save it.
In WWII, American scientists race against the Nazis to develop the ultimate weaponry deterrent to turn the tide of the war. Leading the efforts on the Manhattan Project is physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), who posits that the development of the very first nuclear weapons is the only chance of prevailing peace.
After recruiting the country’s top scientists for the momentous development, a test site town is built in the remote Los Alamos desert. But Oppenheimer soon realises that his potentially cataclysmic enterprise is a point of no return for the entire world; risking armageddon for the creation of the atomic bomb.
