Elle Fanning and Stellan Skarsgård star in this Cannes Grand Prix winner, which reunites Joachim Trier with Renate Reinsve, his lead from The Worst Person in the World.

Two adult sisters navigate their emotional wounds and futures when their absentee father returns following the death of their mother. With Nora (Reinsve), now an actress, her filmmaker father (Skarsgård) asks her to play the lead role of his mother in the new autobiographical film he’s convinced will revive his career.

Touching, funny and cleverly contained within the walls of a well-worn family home, the film received a 19-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival in May where it won the Grand Prix. It will be the Norwegian entry for Best International Film at the 2026 Academy Awards.

Nominated for 9 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress (Renate Reinsve).
