Inspired by true events, the fourth film by Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah, Dogman) is a thriller about problematic love and the search for beauty.

Peppino (Ernesto Mahieux), a taxidermist in his fifties, develops feelings for Valerio (Valerio Foglia Manzillo), a much younger man who is fascinated by his work. He hires Valerio as his assistant, and their friendship seems to develop into something more until a girl enters into the equation.

The film will be introduced by Dr. Stefano Baschiera, Queen’s University Belfast, and is presented in collaboration with Detect: Detecting Transcultural Identity in European Popular Crime Narratives (detect-project.eu).

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement n.770151.
