Hafsia Herzi directs a moving coming-of-age drama where cultural identity and emerging sexuality struggle to reconcile.
Seventeen-year-old Fatima (Nadia Melliti) is the youngest of three daughters and treads carefully as she searches for her own path, torn between her emerging desires, her attraction to women, and her loyalty to her caring French-Algerian family. As she begins university in Paris, she dates, makes friends, and discovers a new world, yet a timeless and heartrending dilemma continues to confront her.
Based on Fatima Daas’ autofictional book The Last One (La Petite dernière), The Little Sister won the Best Actress Award for Nadia Melliti and the Queer Palm at Cannes.
