Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczyńska (The Lure) makes her English language debut with the astounding true story of twin sisters who only communicated with one another.
Based on the eponymous best-seller by journalist Marjorie Wallace, The Silent Twins adapts the story of authors June and Jennifer Gibbons, who, from an early age, refused to communicate with anyone but each other.
As a result, they created a rich, fascinating world to escape the reality of their own lives; growing up as the only black family in town and facing the threat of separation.
The film treats us to neon galore, musical-style interludes, and even puppet animation inspired by the sisters’ diaries and poems, a hard-hitting feast for the senses. With captivating performances from Letitia Wright (Black Panther) and Tamara Lawrance (Small Axe).
"This is an engrossing, well-acted story – disturbing but also tender and sad." The Guardian
