This first chapter of Mark Cousins' new 16-hour epic, entitled Travelogues, Power and People: A New Artform Blinks into Life, covers the birth of cinema until 1929.
This new 16-hour epic tracks the journey of non-fiction cinema from the end of the 19th century to modern day. Told in sixteen chapters and covering thirteen decades, Mark Cousins showcases documentaries from all corners of the world in a quest to uncover how our world is moulded by and reflected in documentary film.
Cousins' new work is a progression from his equally inspiring and hypnotic Story of Film. Its wonder belongs in Cousins' relentless ability to link all of our human experiences with the art of documentary.
The first chapter had its premiere at Sundance Film Festival and the following chapters have screened at festivals across the world.
The screening will be followed by Mark Cousins in conversation with film programmer Eric Hynes.
