As part of 'A Queer Séance', join Ghouls on Film - Belfast's feminist horror society - and QFT as we investigate a tragic family past, a mysteriously locked room, cold chills, and bumps in the night in this gothic Hollywood classic.

A pair of siblings from London (Ray Milland and Ruth Hussey) purchase a surprisingly affordable, lonely cliff-top house in Cornwall, only to discover that it actually carries a ghostly price—and soon they’re caught up in a bizarre romantic triangle from beyond the grave.

Rich in atmosphere, The Uninvited, directed by Lewis Allen, was groundbreaking for the seriousness with which it treated the haunted-house genre, and it remains an elegant and eerie experience, featuring a classic score by Victor Young.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Dr Andrew Sneddon will not be able to give his talk on Irish fortune-telling traditions on Sunday.

'A Queer Séance' is inspired by the concept of ‘The Apparitional Lesbian’; the idea that throughout history, queerness has been hidden in plain sight – overlooked due to fear and in turn, has become ghostly.

Screening as part of In Dreams Are Monsters: A Season of Horror Films, a UK-wide film season supported by the National Lottery and BFI Film Audience Network. indreamsaremonsters.co.uk
