Widely regarded as one of the best British horror films, The Wicker Man returns to screens in a newly restored 4K version of the 2011 Final Cut, with exclusive footage from the recent 50th anniversary event hosted by Edith Bowman.
Directed by Robin Hardy and starring Edward Woodward, Christopher Lee, Britt Ekland, and Diane Cilento, this true cult classic tells the chilling story of a puritan Police Sergeant (Woodward) who arrives on a remote Scottish island in search of a missing girl only to find the Pagan locals claiming she never existed. Much celebrated for its soundtrack, composed by Paul Giovanni and overseen by Gary Carpenter, The Wicker Man features haunting reworkings of traditional British folk songs.
This Summer Solstice screening will feature footage from the 50th anniversary event that took place in London in May. Featuring guest of honour, actress Britt Ekland, associate musical director from the film Gary Carpenter, the family of the director Robin Hardy, acclaimed writer/actor Reece Shearsmith and an exclusive musical performance by Broadside Hacks, covering 4 tracks from the iconic soundtrack.
Estimated total event time: 2 hours and 40 minutes (50th anniversary event followed by the film).
