The third part of Krzysztof Kieślowski's classic, award-winning trilogy on France’s national motto: Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity. Three Colours: Blue and Three Colours: White will also be screening at QFT, all in remastered 4K.
When Valentine (Irène Jacob), a Swiss student and model, runs over a dog belonging to a retired judge (Jean-Louis Trintignant) she discovers that he uses his amateur radio equipment to eavesdrop on his neighbours’ phone conversations. Meanwhile, Auguste (Jean-Pierre Lorit), a young lawyer studying for his final exams, is unaware that his girlfriend, a weather forecaster, is unfaithful. Even though Valentine and Auguste live in the same suburban street and pass each other daily they have never met but soon their paths cross and re-cross.
The final film of the Three Colours Trilogy and of Krzysztof Kieślowski's career, Three Colours: Red is a superbly acted, photographed and scored tale of parallel lives and interwoven destinies.
See Three Colours: Blue from Friday 26 May and Three Colours: White from Friday 2 June.
