This summer, one tomboy will get the girl, score a goal and convince his adorable/annoying little sister not to rat him out to his parents for introducing himself to their new friends as Mikaël, not Laure (with a little help from plasticine on the way).
After all, their parents have moved to a new house and a long, hot summer stretches before them with a new gang of kids to run around with, maybe especially the gorgeous and thoughtful Lisa.
First screened in 2011 in Outburst Queer Arts Festival at QFT, Tomboy burst onto the screen and into our queer and trans hearts and became part of the French school curriculum and the queer cinematic canon – now returning in 2026 in a director’s cut, which will be introduced by Céline Sciamma herself.
A bold, bedazzling film that will resonate with everyone who’s ever felt different and brave and scared and alive, especially in the moment when someone they see truly sees them for who they are.
