Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars: The Motion Picture is digitally restored (now in 4K and with 5.1 sound) with never-before-seen footage. The full, uncut version of D.A. Pennebaker’s film includes a performance by late guitarist Jeff Beck. The 50th anniversary premiere will allow fans to relive that iconic night in music history.
The film will be preceded by a conversation on stage with some of Bowie’s famous friends, including Richard E. Grant, Mike Garson, Suggs (Madness), and Don Letts. The Q&A, hosted by award-winning editor and Mercury Music Prize judge, Phil Alexander, will address Ziggy’s legacy and pan-generational resonance.
Garson will also open the show as he did in 1973, with a live solo piano arrangement of some of Bowie’s best-known tracks.
This will be as close as you will get to being there on that fateful night 50 years ago. You can almost smell the sequins and stardust. Altogether now - There's a starmaaaaan...
