PLAYING PETER
DIR. MICHAEL BARWISE | 13 MINS
When Peter agrees to take part in a clandestine plot of industrial sabotage, he is forced to confront himself and the roles he plays in different relationships. Mixing kitchen-sink drama with elements of political thriller, Playing Peter is a twisting tale of selfhood and manipulation; a fragmented portrait of an identity in flux.
THREE KEENINGS
DIR. OLIVER MCGOLDRICK | 10 MINS
In this darkly comic insight into the ancient death rituals of rural Ireland, Ian is a professional mourner hired for his keening skills. We follow him over the course of a day as he flits from funeral to funeral, ignoring a constant stream of texts and phone calls. It soon becomes clear that it’s not so easy to separate his personal life from his professional life.
NOSTALGIE
DIR. KATHRYN FERGUSON | 19 MINS
Drew Lord Haig was a one-hit wonder in the 80s. Despite leaving it all behind, he receives a mysterious request to perform at a members club in Belfast who have a special reverence for one of his minor B-sides. Funny, compelling and gut-punching; Nostalgie distills the absurd normality of living in a post-conflict Northern Ireland. Based on the short story by Wendy Erskine.
