Sarah Bailey (Robin Tunney), a teen with a troubled past, moves to Los Angeles with her parents for a fresh start. Upon arrival in a Catholic school, Sarah is introduced to Bonnie (Neve Campbell), Rochelle (Rachel True), and Nancy (Fairuza Balk), a clique of outsiders rumoured to practice witchcraft. Born a natural witch herself, Sarah is welcomed to the group, completing their coven. Together they invoke the ancient spirit of Manon, a pagan deity.

Critically panned upon release, the film has since gained a cult following for its fierce, defiant portrayal of sisterhood, female agency, and rage, resonating with independent spirits, outcasts, and, as Balk so proudly puts it onscreen, “we are the weirdos, mister.”
