Season Imagine! Festival of Ideas and Politics, Main Programme

Join us as Five Films for Freedom, the world's widest-reaching digital celebration of LGBTQIA+ themed film comes to Imagine Festival.

A partnership between the British Council and BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, Five Films for Freedom celebrates global LGBTQIA+ stories every year, in support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual people across the world.

For 11 years, this phenomenal global programme has enabled us to stand in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ communities internationally, particularly in places where freedom and equal rights are limited.

In that time, over 23 million people have watched in more than 200 countries and principalities; embracing the message that Love is a Human Right.

We are delighted to present this year’s Five Films for Freedom at Queen’s Film Theatre, Belfast. Join us to see the latest selection of short films for 2025 in discussion with Dragfox filmmaker Lisa Ott, Michele Devlin, Director of Belfast Film Festival and Cian Smyth, Arts and Culture Programme Manager, Ulster University.
