An exploration of the relationship between humans and nature, ecosystem entanglements and the presence of wildness within us all. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with Director of Photography Adam Lach and the official programme launch of Metamorfoza.
Overwhelmed by the degradation of his beloved river, a musician sets out on a 1,300 kilometre journey in a traditional wooden boat, symbolically reclaiming the wilderness on its behalf. Over 40 days, he experiences the non-human natural world with rare attentiveness, listening closely to the primordial sounds of the river and momentarily leaving behind the noise of everyday life.
His path becomes a way to reflect on rivers and human impact on the environment, recalling the environmental disaster on the Oder River, one of the largest in modern European history. In the silence and solitude, in the sounds of spring returning to life, in the voice of the river and the sound of water, he seeks hope for a future with balance. For himself, for his daughter, for the world.
