When Mike returns to his family’s remote mountain home after time away, he finds an imbalance in the family dynamic. After his mother disappears, the remaining men in the household find themselves dominated by her absence, as Mike’s self-exploration mirrors his search for his missing mother.

Following from Haigh’s extraordinary All of Us Strangers, and with a stand-out performance from Fred Hechinger as Mike, and a fantastic supporting cast including Kit Connor, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai and Caitriona Balfe as Mike’s mother, Louise. This is a film that typifies Haigh’s tender and intimate filmmaking style, and continues his sensitive and empathetic exploration of masculinity.
