Niamh Algar (Calm With Horses) stars as a film censor who begins to draw parallels between her sister's mysterious disappearance and a horror film that she is examining at work in Prano Bailey-Bond's video nasty throwback.
1985. Film censor Enid takes pride in her meticulous work, guarding unsuspecting audiences from the deleterious effects of watching the gore-filled decapitations and eye-gougings she pores over. However, when she discovers an eerie horror that speaks directly to her sister’s mysterious disappearance, she resolves to unravel the puzzle behind the film and its enigmatic director - a quest that will blur the lines between fiction and reality in terrifying ways.
Steeped in glorious 1980s aesthetics, Censor is a bloody love letter to the VHS video nasty horror classics of the past and examines the idea that fear of ourselves can be the most dangerous thing of all.
"As an experience of mood, tone, performance and dazzlingly macabre style, it's a striking and wholly original piece...a bold artistic statement." - Katie Walsh, Los Angeles Times
