Brian Moore at 100 and QFT present the Nicolas Roeg directed adaptation of Moore's novel about a woman whose faith in God is tested when her husband dies and then miraculously comes back to life.

While on vacation in Mexico, unhappily married Marie (Theresa Russell) summons the courage to tell her unknowing husband, Alex (Mark Harmon), that she is leaving him for her lover. But before she gives him the bad news, Alex is involved in a boating accident and is pronounced dead. Later, when Alex inexplicably turns up alive, guilt-ridden lapsed Catholic Marie turns back to religion and seeks the help of Father Niles (Will Patton) and Sister Martha (Talia Shire).

To mark the centenary of the birth of Belfast-born writer Brian Moore (1921-1999) Brian Moore at 100 and Queen’s Film Theatre have partnered to screen three films that are either adapted from Moore’s work or which Moore wrote for the screen. Each of the three films is accompanied by a recorded introduction on QFT Player from Neil Sinyard, Emeritus Professor of Film Studies at the University of Hull, which can be seen here. The Brian Moore at 100 project is generously funded by a British Academy/Leverhulme Trust Small Research Grant.
