Nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Minari is director Lee Isaac Chung's tender and sweeping semi-autobiographical story of a Korean-American family moving to a tiny Arkansas farm in search of their own American Dream.

It is the early days of Reagan’s America and Korean parents Jacob (Best Actor nominee Steven Yeun) and Monica (Yeri Han) have decided to move their American-born children David and Anne (the precocious Alan S Kim and Noel Cho) out of the city in an attempt to turn some land into a Korean vegetable farm. As Jabob’s ambitions grow loftier and Monica’s wariness increases, the couple’s relationship begins to fray.

Soon, Monica’s mother Soonja (Best Supporting Actress winner Yuh-Jung Youn) arrives from Korea, offering the family emotional and physical support. Incredibly loving yet sly and foul-mouthed, Soonja’s presence creates new challenges and instability within the family home.

Unbelievably unique and lovely, Minari is a beautifully warm film that shows the undeniable resilience of family and highlights what it is that really makes a home.

“Unforgettable… A staggeringly powerful story of the American Dream” - David Ehrlich, IndieWire
