Nascondino drops us head first into Naples, spanning four years and three generations with intimate access in one of the most fabled and iconic cities in the world.

Since the early 2010s and in response to a rising level of youth crime, the Italian justice system has operated under a policy that allows courts to remove high-risk children from families involved in organised crime. At risk is Entoni, a rambunctious 12-year-old boy, a mischievous but sweet fixture in Naples' Spanish Quarters. His grandmother Dora is determined to steer him towards the right track despite her own criminal past.

Stunningly shot and featuring unparalleled access to the world of inner-city Naples, Nascondino captures the spirit and soul of a neighbourhood that finds itself both maligned and glamorised. A mythological and spiritual portrait of a community's hopes and regrets, its search for redemption and the importance of family in Neapolitan life.

From 29 March to 18 April, Visions of Europe returns to celebrate the breadth of European cinema. With a handpicked selection of films, we take in the best of European film including previews, festival hits and classics returning to the big screen. This year, all Visions of Europe screenings are Pay What You Can, find out more.
