Introducing Pay What You Can for Visions of Europe
13 February 2024
For this year’s Visions of Europe season, we’re testing out a new Pay What You Can model, find out what this means for your ticket.
Over the next few years, we are working hard to increase audience diversity, reach new audiences and reduce barriers for people living on low incomes.
We’ve been coming up with some ideas about changes we can make to our programme, prices and marketing to reach new audiences. For Visions of Europe, we’re testing one of these ideas – Pay What You Can. We decided to test this out with our Visions of Europe season as it’s a perfect example of what QFT does – original, in-house programming, taking in the best of old and new European cinema.
Pay What You Can invites you to think about your own circumstances and what you can afford to spend at the cinema. Instead of our usual ticket types, for all Visions of Europe films we have a sliding scale with tickets at £3, £6, £9 and £15. For those who can afford to pay a bit more, it allows someone who couldn’t necessarily afford a full-price ticket to come for less.
Building on the work film festivals around the world have done with this ticketing model, we’ve come up with some handy pointers to help you decide what ticket price might suit your circumstances best.
