A lavish high society wedding is interrupted by a violent nationwide uprising in the gripping dystopian thriller New Order.
In Mexico City, the affluent Marianne (Naian Gonzalez Norvind) sees her wedding interrupted when the venue is sieged by violent rioters. It soon becomes apparent that what initially seemed like a random attack is actually part of a working class uprising. As the country's political system collapses, Marianne attempts to survive with the help of some of her wealthy family's servants, while others turn against her.
With parallels drawn to Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite, director Michel Franco’s film is a terrifying edge-of-your-seat commentary on the haves and have-nots of modern-day Mexico. New Order blends political allegory with an all-too-recognisable dystopian brutality that is subversive and disturbing in equal measure.
"A brilliantly unflinching look at a society built on extreme disparities...utterly unshakeable." - Carlos Aguilar, The Playlist
