American footballer turned P.I. Harry Moseby (Gene Hackman) has a new case searching for the missing teenage daughter (Melanie Griffiths) of an ageing former movie star. Initially it appears to be a standard missing person case and Harry travels to Florida to begin his search. But when an unsolved murder comes to light, he begins to see a link between the runaway girl, the world of Hollywood stuntmen and a suspicious mechanic.

Night Moves is elegantly plotted and emotionally devastating, with its fair share of duplicity, violence, and revelation.
