Belfast-born director Kathryn Ferguson charts Sinéad OʼConnorʼs phenomenal rise to worldwide fame and examines how she used her voice at the height of her stardom, before her iconoclastic personality led to her exile from the pop mainstream, in the poignant Nothing Compares.

Focusing on O’Connor’s prophetic words and deeds from 1987 to 1993, the film presents an authoritative, richly cinematic portrait of this fearless artist through a contemporary feminist lens. Underpinned by a new interview with Sinéad herself, in which she reflects on events in her own words, Ferguson's doc is innovative and boundary-pushing and shines a new light on O'Connor’s artistry, impact and legacy.

Winner of the Audience Award at Docs Ireland, Best Irish Documentary at Galway Film Fleadh, and officially selected for the Sundance Film Festival, Nothing Compares is an enriching experience for fans and newcomers alike.

"The most potent film about the travails of a woman in the pop industry since Asif Kapadia’s 2016 Oscar-winning Amy" - Neil McCormick, The Telegraph
