An interracial couple's steady romance and newly found bliss deteriorates when faced with institutional and cultural racism.

A young, white, divorced single mother Julie (Barbara Barrie who picked up Best Actress for her performance at the 1964 Cannes Film Festival) does her best to create the best possible environment for her young daughter. But when Julie falls in love with Frank (Bernie Hamilton), a Black man who works at the same factory, societal pressures surrounding interracial marriage gets in the way of their desire to create a family together.

Made at the height of the Civil Rights movement, this pioneering low-budget, black-and-white shot in and around the small city of Painesville preceded the more famous Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967), Stanley Kramer’s Oscar winner.
