The latest documentary from filmmaker Emer Reynolds (QFT favourite The Farthest), Songs for While I'm Away tells the story of the legendary Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott.

Poet, dreamer, wildman. These words have been used at various times to describe Phil Lynott. But who was he really? Reynold's film extensively uses Lynott's own words to get to the heart of how a mixed race boy from working class 1950s Dublin grew up to become Ireland's greatest rock star. With particular focus on his iconic songs, this documentary investigates not only the poet, dreamer and wildman but also the father, husband, friend and son.

"The 70s singer who served up stadium power chords as much as gentle, reflective songs is remembered in this sad, sweet trip down memory lane." - Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
