An entrepreneur and his family begin to unravel after moving into an old country manor in England in this tense and unsettling '80s-set drama starring Jude Law and Carrie Coon.
Rory (Law), an ambitious former commodities broker, persuades his American wife, Allison (Coon), and their children to leave the comforts of suburban America and return to his native England. Sensing opportunity, Rory rejoins his former firm and leases a centuries-old country manor, with grounds for Allison’s horses and a stable. However, the promise of a lucrative new beginning soon starts to unravel and the couple has to face both the secrets and unwelcome truths that lie beneath the surface of their marriage.
Following on from Martha Marcy May Marlene, acclaimed director Sean Durkin explores themes of cruelty, familial dysfunction and avarice in a darkly beautiful piece of filmmaking featuring two superb central performances.
"It's pure pleasure to watch a film like The Nest...[A] suspenseful, sumptuous family drama." - Alissa Wilkinson, Vox
