A special screening and discussion presented in partnership with Amnesty International to mark World Press Freedom Day.
Rosamund Pike stars as Sunday Times war correspondent Marie Colvin in director Matthew Heineman’s fact-based film that follows Colvin and photojournalist Paul Conroy (Jamie Dornan) to the front lines of conflicts around the globe, culminating in a fateful trip to the besieged Syrian city of Homs in 2012.
We would like to dedicate this event to journalist Lyra McKee, who was due to take part, and who was killed in Derry on 18 April 2019.
The panel will include Kevin Cooper (Belfast Press Photographer and former Senior NUJ Activist), Suzanne Breen (Political Editor, Belfast Telegraph) and will be chaired by Patrick Corrigan (Amnesty International UK's Northern Ireland Programme Director and Head of Nations & Regions). They will talk about recent threats to press freedoms which have seen journalists around the world killed, imprisoned or muzzled for exercising their freedom of expression rights in bringing us the news.
This event is presented in partnership with Amnesty International to mark World Press Freedom Day (Fri 3 May). Please note: this screening takes place on Sat 4 May.
