Happy Alien Day! On April 26th, we celebrate the distress call from LV-426 which marked the start of the Alien tale, with the theatrical cuts of Alien and Aliens, in an epic sci-fi double bill. In space no one can hear you scream, but in QFT... the person sitting beside you will.

Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic Alien remains one of the most influential and altogether terrifying films in the history of sci-fi cinema. The unassuming crew of the spaceship Nostromo – including an icon of genre cinema Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) – en route home to Earth, are diverted from their course by a distress signal from a nearby moon.

Stopping to investigate, they discover the remains of a derelict alien ship – and, in the process of examining the ruined craft, inadvertently trigger the birth of one of the most terrifying movie monsters in cinematic history.

Widely regarded as one of the best sequels of all time, meanwhile, is James Cameron’s Aliens. Following in the formidable footsteps of Ridley Scott, Aliens ingeniously transforms the series into a thrilling actioner, as the fearless Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) joins a group of marines in their fight against the Alien Queen on planet LV-426.

Screening in their original theatrical cuts at the insistence of the QFT Programmer, Alien is screening from its recent 4K restoration, Aliens is in 2K.
