Baby Pictures is our regular Friday morning film slot exclusively for carers with little ones aged twelve months and under. From acclaimed French director Dominik Moll comes a deeply arresting and powerful crime thriller.

Detective Yohan Vivès (Bastien Bouillon) has only just taken over as head of the detective bureau of the local police department when he is assigned to the chilling murder of a young woman in her quiet mountain village. But what starts as a meticulous investigation into the victim’s life soon turns into a haunting obsession for Yohan and his team as the killer remains at large.

Inspired by true events, the horrific story comes from one section of Pauline Guéna’s 18.3, a massive chronicle of a year of French murder investigations that was itself partly inspired by David Simon’s HomicideA Year on the Killing Streets. Moll’s film combines a French version of Simon’s dizzyingly comprehensive overview with the sweep of Zodiac and Memories of Murder, delivering the genre hallmarks of true crime while excavating insidious strains of misogyny in contemporary French society.

Baby Pictures

Baby Pictures is open to carers and little ones of twelve months and under. As everyone in the cinema is a parent or carer, there’s no need to worry if it gets a little noisy. Everyone understands. Customers not accompanying a baby will be turned away.

The lights are turned up a little bit and the sound is a little softer to create a peaceful environment for you and the baby. It’s just for carers (Mum, Dad, Granny, Granda, whoever it is it looking after the tot) and babies. Up to two adults can come with a baby. Please note: we cannot allow babies over the age of 12 months to come to Baby Pictures.

If you have any questions about Baby Pictures, please get in touch on qftmanager@qub.ac.uk.
