Scorsese’s gangster classic tells the true story of Henry Hill, a half-Irish, half-Sicilian Brooklyn man who was adopted by neighbourhood gangsters at an early age and climbed the ranks of a Mafia family. With his rise through the organisation, however, comes the dangers of violence, double-crosses, drug addiction and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

At the centre of Goodfellas is an astonishing performance from the late Ray Liotta, whose captivating and explosive portrayal of Hill is thrillingly multifaceted and wide ranging. In his debut leading role in a feature film, occupying almost every frame, he more than holds his own opposite heavyweights Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci.
