A dynamic filmed version of Rough Magic’s remarkable theatre production, Hecuba is a passionate reimagining of the aftermath of the Trojan War by internationally renowned playwright Marina Carr.

Surrounded by the devastation of her city, her husband slain, Hecuba waits in the throne room for the conqueror Agamemnon. She and her daughters now face a future beyond their control, in a history written by the victors.

With an extraordinary ensemble cast, Hecuba features stunning performances from Aislín McGuckin in the title role with Brian Doherty as Agamemnon, Owen Roe as Odysseus alongside a brilliant cast of young actors, offering a series of intense, dangerous, personal encounters and impossible choices in this visceral depiction of the effect of war and its cost to the individual.

The show was extremely well received during Dublin Theatre Festival and was filmed where it was originally staged in Project Arts Centre by Areaman, perfectly captured by DOP Colm Hogan and edited by Tony Cranstoun.
