In the shadow of the pandemic, a small town rallies to protect a beloved local bookshop in its hour of need.
Since first opening its doors in the ’70s, The Bookstore has become a venerable local institution and a haven for readers in Lenox, Massachusetts thanks to its owner, Matt Tannenbaum, whose passion for stories runs deep. Presiding at The Bookstore for over forty years, garrulous, charming bibliophile Matt has created a shop where readers can make friends as well as literary discoveries. But, facing dire financial circumstances during COVID-19, Matt must find new ways to sustain The Bookstore so it can continue to serve the next generation of readers.
An affectionate, offbeat portrait of a beloved bookshop and the family at its heart, Hello, Bookstore is a tribute to the love of reading and to the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of its owner, as well as a reminder of the endless inspirations and essential community and cultural service that bookshops provide.
"Richly moving and almost transcendental. A salute to the sacramental qualities of art that are threaded through everyday life." Variety
