Belfast Film Festival is delighted to welcome Jim Sheridan, one of the great directors of Irish cinema, for a conversation with Trevor Birney on his career in film.
Having been a successful theatre director and journeyman actor in his native Ireland, Sheridan emigrated to the United States in 1981 with less than a hundred dollars in his pocket. He spent the next several years struggling to make ends meet until he directed his first feature, My Left Foot, which marked the first of several successful collaborations with actor and fellow Irishman Daniel Day-Lewis, while earning Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Picture. Sheridan is also known for The Field, In the Name of the Father, In America and The Secret Scripture.
As part of this ‘In Conversation’ with Sheridan he will chart his long distinguished career, give an insight into working with the likes of Terry George, Daniel Day–Lewis, Vanessa Redgrave, Richard Harris, Tobey Maguire and rapper 50 Cent among others.
Screening as part of the 21st Belfast Film Festival. Please note: all tickets are sold via the Belfast Film Festival box office. If you have any access requirements please get in touch with the box office before booking: email@example.com.
