A freshly married couple turn their honeymoon into an exploration of the meaning of love - creating a unique love story told by 33 couples around the world.

Upon getting married, Davor and Anđela, a young couple from Croatia, start questioning what love is - is it a social construct or an innate need? Is it something stronger than cultural norms or something entirely shaped by society? What makes some people spend their whole lives together? What makes other people break up after just a couple of months? In order to answer these questions, they decide to embark on a yearlong honeymoon around the world, asking ordinary men and women across 30 countries the same questions about love and relationships.

From the depths of the Amazon rainforest and remote Himalayan villages, across small Pacific countries and African slums, all the way to middle-class suburbs and the world’s largest cities, this documentary shows 33 intimate stories about love and marriage, where people talk openly and sincerely about their challenges and struggles, their highs and lows, creating a unique love story that shows all the complexity of love in the 21st century.

Love Around the World searches for the definition of love through real-life experiences and emotions, whilst also showing the role that religion, culture, politics, and personal circumstance has on relationships.

Co-directors Anđela and Davor Rostuhar will be present at both screenings to take part in a post-screening Q&A.
