From the legendary Studio Ghibli and Academy Award-winning director Hayao Miyazaki (The Boy and the Heron), comes a family favourite, with it's iconic titular character.
Satsuki and Mei's mother has taken ill. In order to be closer to her while she recovers in a rural convalescent hospital, their father moves the two sisters from their home in a city to the countryside. They soon discover that the surrounding forests are home to a family of Totoros, gentle but powerful creatures who live in a huge and ancient camphor tree and are seen only by children.
As with much of Miyazaki’s work, at its core My Neighbour Totoro is about human-kind’s relationship to the Earth. The film is infused with an almost spiritual reverence for the power of nature (a philosophy tied to the ancient Shinto belief that every object in nature has a soul).
My Neighbour Totoro will screen in the original Japanese version with English subtitles, and the English language dub version (look for the DB symbol beside screening times).
